In the Making of Miranda, Miranda Ponsonby tells the extraordinary story of her life. Miranda was born as Rhodri, into one of Britain’s renowned families, and educated at a war-time boy’s prep school and one of Britain’s most ancient public schools, before being commissioned into the Household Cavalry.

It was only when his 30 year marriage came to an end that Rhodri decided to undergo transgender surgery and become Miranda. After the operation Miranda decided to retrain as a nurse, and now works long and physically demanding hours in the coronary care unit of an NHS hospital.

Miranda’s life-changing decision estranged her from family and friends, and even today she still faces a daily battle against deep-rooted social prejudices.  It is Miranda’s unfailing positivity and the ability to smile in the face of adversity that makes her story - told with real humour, candour and wit - so captivating.

The astonishing journey of The Making of Miranda captures her eccentricity and strength of character in a true story that is far more colourful than fiction.
